Alternate Line

A prop or spread offered at a different number than the primary line, with adjusted odds. For example, if the main points line is 22.5, an alt line might be 24.5 at plus odds.

Like choosing a harder difficulty in a video game for bonus rewards — the payout is higher but so is the challenge.

Why it matters

Alt lines let you tailor bets to your projections. If you think a player will significantly over-perform, alt lines pay more than the standard line.

How DMP uses this

DMP's P(over) works at any line value, so you can evaluate whether an alt line offers better EV than the standard line.

Common mistake

Chasing big plus-odds alt lines without checking if the probability justifies the price — the juice on alt lines can be brutal.
