Cash Out
A feature offered by sportsbooks that lets you settle a bet early for a guaranteed payout before the event concludes. The cash-out amount reflects current odds minus a margin for the book.
Like selling a winning lottery ticket to someone for less than the expected payout — you're giving up value for certainty.
Why it matters
Cash out is almost always -EV because the sportsbook takes a significant cut. Understanding this prevents you from giving away edge.
How DMP uses this
DMP's CLV tracking shows whether your original entry was valuable. If you had CLV at entry, cashing out early often sacrifices that edge.
Common mistake
Using cash out to lock in small profits on +EV bets — if the bet was +EV at entry, letting it ride is mathematically superior.
