Completion Percentage
The percentage of pass attempts that result in completed catches. Basic formula: completions / attempts × 100. Adjusted versions account for drops and throw-aways.
Like a basketball player's free throw percentage — it tells you how reliable they are at converting, but doesn't tell you how many attempts they get.
Why it matters
It indicates how reliably a quarterback connects with receivers, directly affecting the volume of receptions and receiving yards available to the pass-catching corps.
How DMP uses this
DMP uses quarterback completion rates in the context of receiver prop projections — a high-completion QB supports higher reception floor projections for his targets.
Common mistake
Judging QBs purely on completion percentage without context — a quarterback who checks down on every play will have a high completion rate but low aDOT and limited downfield production.
