Handle
The total dollar amount wagered on a specific market or event. A high-handle game has attracted more betting volume and typically has sharper, more efficient lines.
Like the difference between a heavily traded stock and a penny stock: the penny stock is less efficiently priced.
Why it matters
Handle influences line accuracy. High-handle markets like NFL sides are razor-sharp; low-handle markets like NCAAB props can be much softer.
How DMP uses this
DMP targets player prop markets specifically because they have lower handle than sides and totals, meaning more inefficiency and more opportunity.
Common mistake
Assuming low-handle markets are too risky — low handle means less efficient pricing, which is exactly where edges are found.
