Opening Odds

The first odds posted on a market, before any betting action or line movement has occurred.

Like the starting bid at an auction -- informed by research, then refined by demand.

Why it matters

Opening odds represent the book's raw assessment. Comparing openers to closers reveals where and how much the market moved.

How DMP uses this

DMP tracks opening lines to measure line movement magnitude and identify which props attracted sharp action.

Common mistake

Assuming opening lines are uninformed -- sharp books put significant work into openers, they are not random.
