OPS

On-Base Plus Slugging -- a combined hitting metric adding on-base percentage and slugging percentage to measure overall offensive production.

Like combining a student's GPA and test scores -- a quick summary, but not perfectly weighted.

Why it matters

OPS gives a quick read on a hitter's total offensive value. League average is around .720; elite is .900+.

How DMP uses this

DMP references OPS when evaluating hitter quality for total bases and run-scoring prop projections.

Common mistake

Treating OBP and SLG as equally important -- OBP is actually more valuable for run creation, but OPS weights them the same.
