Turnover Rate (TOV%)
The percentage of a player's possessions that end in a turnover. Calculated as turnovers per 100 possessions used.
Like a delivery truck that loses packages en route — the more you lose in transit, the less you deliver.
Why it matters
High turnover-rate players in fast-paced games against pressure defenses are candidates for over on turnover props — and under on scoring props since turnovers eat possessions.
How DMP uses this
DMP factors turnover rate into projection variance and considers NCAAB defensive pressure scores when projecting turnover-prone players against pressing teams.
Common mistake
Ignoring turnover rate when betting scoring props — a player who turns it over frequently wastes possessions that could become points.
