Z-Score
The number of standard deviations a particular value is above or below the mean. A z-score of +2 means the value is two standard deviations above average.
Like converting test scores from different classes to percentiles so you can compare your chemistry grade to your English grade.
Why it matters
It lets you compare players on a common scale regardless of the stat — a z-score of +1.5 in rebounds means the same relative outperformance as +1.5 in assists.
How DMP uses this
DMP uses z-scores internally to normalize different statistical signals so they can be combined into a single composite score for ranking props.
Common mistake
Comparing raw stat values across different categories without standardizing — 5 assists and 5 rebounds don't represent the same relative performance.
